In plaats daarvan belanden de meeste kunststoffen op stortplaatsen, begraven op de bodem waar het na verloop van tijd langzaam in het <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thefunkyturtle.com\/conservation\/\">milieu sijpelt<\/a> en 10% ervan in de oceaan terechtkomt.\r\n\r\nDe economische schade veroorzaakt door plastic afval alleen al in de regio Zuidoost-Azi\u00eb kost toerisme, visserij en winkels $ 1,3 miljard per jaar en de totale economische schade aan het <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thefunkyturtle.com\/conservation\/marine-conservation\/\">mariene ecosysteem<\/a> van de wereld bedraagt ongeveer $ 13 miljard per jaar.\r\n\r\nOndanks deze statistieken zijn wegwerpplastics nog steeds overal waar je kijkt. Of het nu gaat om de plastic zakken die bij de plaatselijke winkel worden geleverd, de afhaalbeker voor uw ochtendkoffie of zelfs het kleine plastic roerstaafje dat naast de suiker verkrijgbaar is.\r\n\r\nAndere voorbeelden zijn: plastic rietjes, plastic flessen, plastic doppen, plastic tandenborstels, plastic bestek, voedselverpakkingen, afhaalcontainers en sigarettenpeuken.\r\n\r\nJa, er zit plastic in sigarettenpeuken. Petroleum zelf is niet biologisch afbreekbaar, maar breekt na verloop van tijd af in kleine deeltjes die microplastics worden genoemd.\r\n\r\nDeze micro-plastics geven vervolgens giftige chemicali\u00ebn af aan het milieu, die uiteindelijk hun weg vinden naar onze voedsel- en watervoorziening. Dit geeft vervolgens giftige emissies af en stelt op zijn beurt mensen en de directe omgeving bloot aan schadelijk gas.\r\n\r\nNatuurlijk kunnen niet alleen mensen worden getroffen, ook de zee- en <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thefunkyturtle.com\/conservation\/land-conservation\/\">landdieren<\/a> lijden onder de gevolgen van onze acties.\r\n<blockquote>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">VERMIJD PLASTIC ZAKKEN<\/p>\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\nEr zijn wereldwijd verschillende gevallen van in het wild levende dieren te vinden met talloze plastic zakken in hun buik of verstrikt te raken in zwerfafval, zelfs gewurgd.\r\n\r\nVooral zeedieren kunnen plastic verwarren met voedsel. Schildpadden kunnen bijvoorbeeld een drijvende plastic zak verwarren met een kwal.\r\n\r\nZe gaan dan dood door verstikking omdat hun luchtwegen geblokkeerd raken, waardoor hun maag verstopt raakt. Je kunt er heel modieuze vinden, inclusief glazen koffiekopjes die je aan de verkoper kunt vragen om voor je te vullen. In sommige winkels krijg je zelfs korting als je die zelf meeneemt.\r\n\r\nNet zoals de herbruikbare koffiekop, waarom pak je ook niet je eigen container voor afhaalmaaltijden mee? Vermijd ten koste van alles de piepschuim container.\r\n\r\nGa nog een stap verder en trakteer jezelf ook op herbruikbaar bestek.
